Who We Are

The Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation, Inc. (PIEF) was founded in 1988 with a clear conviction: that education is the greatest investment any community can make in its future. For nearly four decades, PIEF has brought together college-educated professionals and passionate community volunteers united in service to Washington, DC.

PIEF is the 501(c)(3) educational foundation of Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® — one of Washington, DC's most storied civic organizations — and is proud to carry that legacy of service forward through scholarships, programming, and community impact.

We have awarded over $1 million in scholarships to college-bound high school seniors and continuing college students in the District of Columbia, prioritizing students from DC's traditional public schools and charter schools. PIEF holds a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator, reflecting our commitment to transparency and accountability.

Our Programs include:

  • Providing DC students with academic support, scholarships, and resources to help them reach their full potential from high school through college.

  • Promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being through community programs, health education, and wellness initiatives for women in the DC area.

  • Equipping community members with the financial knowledge, tools, and connections needed to build lasting wealth and economic independence.

  • Extending our mission beyond DC's borders through partnerships and initiatives that reflect our commitment to service on a broader scale — administered in partnership with Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.
